COUPLES EVENTS
Rules 1-3 as per rules that appear on WCAL website
4. Participation and registration of competitors.
4.1 A couple may represent a country in a competition if one of the partners holds a valid and subsisting passport of the represented country at the time of registration for the competition and at the time of the competition.
4.2 Competitors can register with the WDC AL either individually or through their WDC AL member organisation.
4.3 Age-groups
The following age-groups are obligatory for registration and applicable in all competitions:
Age classifications, "a" through "f", will become effective on the individual's actual birthday. On a year where a competitor is going to move from one classification to the next they may make this change anytime during a 60 day period that begins 30 days prior to their birthday and ends 30 days following their birthday - once they change they may not go back concerning that age section
a) Juvenile 1- under 10
b) Juvenile 2 - under 12
c) Junior 1 - under 14
d) Junior 2 - under 16
e) Youth 1 - under 19
f) Youth 2 - under 21
g) Adult - 16 years or older on the day of the competition
h) Over 30 - 30 years or older in the year of the competition
i) Over 40 - 40 years or older in the year of the competition
j) Over 50 - 50 years or older in the year of the competition
k) Over 60 - 60 years or older in the year of the competition
In Juvenile, Junior, Youth and Senior age-groups both competitors in the partnership must be within the age restriction mentioned. In the Adult age-group one competitor of the partnership must be within the age - restriction mentioned. Juvenile, Junior and Youth couples are allowed to compete one age-group above their own age-group at the discretion of the organiser only. Senior couples are allowed to compete one age group below their own age group at the discretion of the organiser only. All costumes worn in competitions must be in compliance with the characteristics for each of the Ballroom and Latin American disciplines. Advertising is permitted on costumes. The advertisement must not exceed a length of 10 cm and a height of 4 cm.
For all Under 12 dancers outfit must be plain, simple with no decoration or sparkle or stones.
For all dancers above 12 any outfit is permitted.
In any competition the Chairman's interpretation of these Dress Regulations is final and binding.
Open events, organised or granted by the WDC AL are free of other regulations than mentioned above.
For Open Couples events, organised or granted by the WDC AL are not restricted by a syllabus or outfit regulation - Named as - Under 12 Unrestricted.
6.3 The accepted official techniques of the WDC AL and WDC are: "The Art and Technique of Ballroom Dancing" by Rudi Trautz for Ballroom and the "Burns Latin Tek" by Donnie Burns MBE & Heidi Burns for Latin.

In sections 1 - 6, solo dancers are allowed to compete one age-group above their own age group.
In sections 7 - 10 competitions are permitted to compete one age group below their own.

Anyone competing or spectating (any event) do so at their own risk. The venue will not accept responsibility for any existing health issues/ allergies, injury or situation.
We acknowledge our responsibilities in capturing images by photography or other means (streaming services) in particular with reference to:
• The Protection of Children Act 1978,
• An individual’s right to privacy under The Human Rights Act 1998 and
• The Data Protection Act 1998
• General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
By attending this event, whether as a participant or otherwise (e.g. as a spectator ), you acknowledge that images may be captured during the event using film photography, digital photography, video or other medium and may be used by the Festival.
Organisers for the purpose of live streaming and to promote the organisation and its work, or other future events by us via our websites, social media websites, promotional leaflets and brochures and other publicity material (such as internal and external newsletters).
The images may also be provided to the media for publication in international or national newspapers or magazines.
The Organiser shall take no responsibility for the capture and use of any images taken at the event by any third party not directly engaged by us to do so
on our behalf and accepts no liability for the actions of such third parties.
